Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden, is the retelling of two Native Canadian men's journey in the Great War and how they face many struggles, such as discrimination and loss of friendship. It is based off Canada's most awarded Native, Francis Pegahmagabow, for his outstanding work as a sniper. Xavier and Elijah represent a split personality and the different trials 'Peggy' went through out in the trenches.
Xavier reflects on his war experience while his aunt, Niska, attempts to heal him from his wounds and sickness with stories of her past as they journey by canoe back home. The audience experiences first hand what the life in the trenches was like and how the war affected the soldiers in the darkest of ways.
